About Sky

Hi! I’m Sky, a sophomore at MIT double majoring in Math and Artificial Intelligence. I’m passionate about teaching math and have a lot of experience in the field.

At MIT, I am a member of the Harvard MIT Math Tournament, and I volunteered and taught at MIT Splash, the Institute’s largest teaching and learning program for high school students. I wrote lesson plans and taught Group Theory and Proof Writing to over 50 students.

I am also employed by the MIT Mathematics Department as a course grader for two courses, Mathematics for Computer Science (6.1200/6.042) and Linear Algebra (18.06), where I write grading rubrics and provide personalized feedback to roughly 500 students.

I graduated from the Spence School where I worked as a math tutor for all 4 years of high school, tutoring SAT math, Pre-calculus, Geometry, Linear Algebra, Calculus, and Multivariable Calculus, and eventually wrote a math textbook for my school’s math department that is still in use!

During my senior year of high school, I was dually enrolled in Columbia University, where I took 4 advanced college math classes and maintained a 4.0 GPA there. My SAT score was 1570 points.

I was also fortunate to teach a two-week advanced program at Yuan Ze University (Taiwan) through MIT’s MISTI Program (MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives). I taught courses on Graph Theory, Quantum Computing, and Computing Logic to gifted high school students!

I also attended PROMYS math camp for two years and Awesome Math Summer Camp for three years.

I also headed my high school’s math team, which was ranked in the Top 5 in New York City all three years I was captain, twice coming first at the Brearley Invitational, coming 2nd and 5th at the Downtown Mathematics Invitational, 2nd at the Horace Mann Invitational, and 4th at the TrinMac competition.

Classes

I am currently offering a 20-hour SAT/PSAT preps program exclusively for UKE students.

Each Package includes a complimentary introductory meeting with parents and students to understand the student’s interests and prior experience and to create personalized lesson plans that will fully challenge and excite the student(s).

Classes are provided online using Zoom or Google Meet. A computer with reliable Internet connection, preferably one that is able to download software, is required for this course. Students do not need extensive prior programming experience, but they must have basic computer skills and be able to type efficiently.

Days and times are to be coordinated with the teacher. However, a minimum of 1 to 2 classes needs to be taken each week in order to maximize results and ensure that the full package is taken within the defined time frame.

Waiver

The teacher does not make any guarantee of any future results, rewards, success, or achievements as part of the tutoring package.

While the instructor will offer thorough instruction, practice opportunities, and support, the final results of the sessions will depend on the student’s personal effort and commitment to the learning process. The tutoring package aims to equip students with the tools, resources, and guidance needed to enhance their skills and knowledge in specific areas. However, the effectiveness of these sessions relies on the student’s active participation, consistent practice, and eagerness to learn.
